He struck up a successful partnership with fellow loanee Jamie Maclaren in the second half of the 2017/18 season as the pair hit 17 goals between them as Hibs finished the campaign strongly.

The Easter Road side will benefit from a sell-on fee if the player moves on from the Kybunpark side.

A statement from Hibs read: “Florian Kamberi has completed a permanent transfer to Swiss side St Gallen.

“The 25-year-old striker moves for an undisclosed fee, with Hibernian holding an interest in any future switch.

“Florian initially arrived at Easter Road on loan from Grasshoppers after a successful trial in January 2018, scoring 30 goals in 84 appearances for The Hibees. His time in Edinburgh coincided with a first senior international call-up for Albania.

“The form of Christian Doidge limited his first-team opportunities around the halfway point of last season and Florian spent the remainder of the campaign on loan with Rangers, with Greg Docherty moving in the other direction on a temporary basis.

“We wish Florian well for the future.”

Matthias Hauppi, president of the Swiss outfit, added: “At the beginning of August 2015, Florian Kamberi scored his first Super League goal in Grasshoppers’ 3-2 victory in the Zurich derby shortly before the end of the game.

"I interviewed the young striker back then as a television reporter. In the meantime, he has played many games, scored many goals and has gained more experience.

"Now we meet again and look forward to working together and achieving goals for FCSG.”
