Florian Kamberi has been very immature over Rangers loan given he still has 12 months left at Hibs - Michael Weir

I wouldn’t like to be Flo Kamberi if he comes back to Easter Road in the summer after his comments following his move to Rangers.

He seems to have forgotten that he’s gone there on loan and still has another season of his contract to run at Hibs which could leave him facing a really tricky situation if Steven Gerrard doesn’t want him long term.

Kamberi has made a lot of stupid statements, very immature on his part but he also needs to knuckle down and concentrate on playing football, mature as a player and show what he can do on a consistent basis, something that’s been lacking in his game.

We’ve heard it all before of course, players joining either side of the Old Firm and describing it as their “dream move,” that this was the only club they’d ever wanted to play for, comments which are really just pandering to what they think their new fans are wanting to hear.

Kamberi has claimed he wasn’t being disrespectful to Hibs, but in the eyes of supporters at Easter Road that’s exactly what he has been and like fans anywhere don’t like it when someone has a go at their club.

'Agitating' for a move

I simply don’t understand where he’s coming from, Hibs are a big club, one he was happy to join when his career appeared to be going nowhere in Switzerland and a move which has brought him to the attention of Albania.

It seems to me as if Kamberi has been agitating for a move for quite a while now, every bit of interest quickly put into the public domain which only causes uncertainty and unrest.

I, for one, will be interested to see how Kamberi copes with the pressure of being in the goldfish bowl of Ibrox where, we have seen, everything a player does, no matter now trivial, is quickly in the public domain.

It’s the same at Celtic, but Kamberi has gone to Rangers at a time when Gerrard’s players are finding themselves increasingly under stress as their title challenge has wavered over the past couple of weeks, now seven points behind their biggest rivals following a poor run after the winter break.

If Hibs have a right go at Ibrox, who knows what might happen?

Hibs can help turn the screw when they go to Ibrox on Wednesday night. It will tough, as always, and Rangers have enjoyed two wins over us this season, the first a real doing in Govan.

But Gerrard’s players know they can’t afford to drop any more points, their fans will be anxious from the first whistle and if we turn up, as we are capable of doing, and have a right go then who knows what might happen.

We always look like we are going to score, the worry for me is that we badly need to tighten up at the back. We simply can’t continue to allow the opposition to get their noses in front and expect to come back at them as we did against St Mirren at the weekend.

However, I think we’ve come out of the transfer window with Jack Ross having strengthened his squad. He was never going to overhaul absolutely everything in one go but getting Marc McNulty back is a good bit of business.

He was a success at Hibs last season and I can see him striking up a good partnership with Christian Doidge. Like Kamberi, Greg Docherty won’t be involved on Wednesday night, but I think he’s a shrewd bit of business, a midfielder who has a goal in him.
