Former Hibs manager sacked by Cambridge United after six-game winless run

Former Hibs manager Colin Calderwood has been sacked as manager of Cambridge United, the club have announced.

The 55-year-old had been in charge of the English League Two side since 2018 but was sacked amid a string of poor results.

Cambridge haven't won in six matches and have been victorious only once in their last 10.

Calderwood's last match was a 4-0 home defeat to Salford City, managed by fellow ex-Scottish international Graham Alexander.

His role at the Abbey Stadium was his first as a manager since being sacked by Hibs in 2011.

Since then he has been assistant boss at Birmingham City, Norwich City, Brigton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa.

Cambridge owner Paul Barry said: ”We have agreed with Colin that the time is right for him to leave the club.

“I would like to put on record our respect for him as a head coach and a person.

“He has represented Cambridge United with honesty and integrity throughout his time with us and he leaves with our very best wishes.”
