Hibs 0-1 St Johnstone: Error gifts visitors win in game short on chances

The defender did well to win possession deep inside his own half but he inexplicably passed the ball straight to former Hibs loanee Glenn Middleton, who finished past Ofir Marciano from the edge of the area.
Hibs tried to carve out chances and threw everything at the St Johnstone goal in the second half but fell to another home defeat against the Perthshire side.

Good morning!
It’s a lovely spring day and as things stand, great conditions for a game of football. That being said, I’ll still be taking a waterproof a well as a pair of sunglasses to Easter Road this afternoon. You just can never tell. But, Hibs play their penultimate home game of the season this afternoon. St Johnstone are the visitors and three points for the Hibees would go a long way to sealing that third place. Join me from 1.30pm for the latest on the game.
Still nae Twittin’
You may have seen that the Evening News Sport is supporting the social media boycott this weekend so we won’t be posting any of our usual updates on Twitter or Facebook BUT we will still be bringing you all the action, team news, post-match reaction here on the live blog and on edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport throughout the day.
Great day for football

Team news is in
Just the two changes for Hibs as Drey Wright comes in for Kevin Nisbet, who drops out completely from the matchday squad and Ofir Marciano returns in goal in place of Matt Macey. Jack Ross did mention there were one or two players struggling with knocks during the week.
Marciano; McGinn, Porteous, Hanlon; Wright, Irvine, Gogic, Newell, Doig; Doidge, Boyle.
Subs: Macey, Gray, McGregor, Stevenson, Magennis, Hallberg, Bradley
Callum Davidson has shuffled his pack
Just the seven changes to the Saints team
Parish; Kerr, Gordon, McCart; Brown, Bryson, McCann, Booth; Middleton, Kane, O’Halloran.
Subs: Wills, Rooney, Davidson, Wotherspoon, Conway, May, Gilmour, Melamed.
Wright comes in for just his tenth league start of the campaign. Would imagine he will line up on the right of midfield with Boyle pushed up top to partner Doidge in the absence of Nisbet.
Just about ready to go here at Easter Road. Hibs in the traditional green and white; St Johnstone in their yellow and blue change kit
CHANCE!
Free kick put in by Newell; Doidge gets his head to it but it lacks power and Parish gathers.
Boyle gets away down the right, his low cross is cleared as far as Doig who takes aim but sees it blocked. Hibs then win a free kick on the edge of the centre-circle after a foul on Wright
Doidge wins an aerial ball and knocks it on to Boyle but the flag is up for offside. Hibs knocking on the door here.
GOAL ST JOHNSTONE!
Porteous does well to win the ball back on the edge of his box but he inexplicably passes it straight to former Hibs loanee Glenn Middleton, who finishes beyond Marciano from the edge of the box. The defender will *not* want to see that back again - it’s St Johnstone’s first real chance of the game! And a little bit of a “shh” celebration from the goalscorer... 👀
