Hibs apologise to Rangers after Irvine Welsh comments about Ibrox club and Alfredo Morelos

Hibs have apologised to Rangers over comments made by Irvine Welsh during the club’s broadcast of Wednesday night’s fixture at Easter Road.

The revered Capital author, who penned the likes of Trainspotting, Filth and Acid House, was in the studio to analyse the Scottish Premiership clash.

The visitors won the match 1-0 thanks to an early second-half goal from Alfredo Morelos, who could easily have been sent off earlier in the match for a stamp on Hibs defender Ryan Porteous.

Welsh is thought to have made comments about both the Colombian striker and the Ibrox side which caused offence to the visitors.

The Evening News understands that Hibs have since reached out privately to Rangers to apologise.

Rangers SLO Greg Marshall wrote on Twitter: "We are disappointed at the comments made in relation to Alfredo and our club. Hibs have apologised to the club today. Nevertheless, we are sure these comments will be investigated by the football authorities."
