Hibs boss Jack Ross speaks on Florian Kamberi situation as striker trains with first-team squad

Jack Ross has cast doubt on Florian Kamberi’s long-term future at Hibs, as pictures emerged showing the Swiss-born laughing and joking with team-mates during training at the club’s East Mains base.

The 25-year-old joined Rangers on loan in January, with midfielder Greg Docherty coming the other way on a similar deal. However, the former Grasshoppers hitman angered Hibs fans with his “dream move” comments upon joining up with Steven Gerrard’s side just before the winter transfer window closed on 31 January.

Kamberi still has 12 months left on his Easter Road contract, and has been the subject of two failed bids from Hull City while other teams are monitoring the situation.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ross said: “He's trained with us from day one, and that's probably it.

"There's continued dialogue to find a solution that suits both parties but at the moment, he's training with the group."

Asked if it was likely Kamberi had played his last game in green and white, Ross replied: "I don't think I would ever be as blunt as that. From experience, football can move and shift in very different ways.

"At the moment, in terms of my planning for the season, I'm planning with the players who will absolutely be here and try to prepare as best I can for the opening game - especially as we start to move ever closer, hopefully, to friendly matches."

In February, Ross branded Kamberi’s reaction to the Rangers switch as “unusual” and warned it would be “more challenging" for the forward to return to Hibs. Yesterday, he added: "I don't necessarily think any challenges would be attributed to [Kamberi's comments].

"You have to make sure you have a group that's fully involved in what you're trying to do at the club.

"If you don't have that, then you have to find a solution that suits everybody, and that's what we're trying to work towards at the moment."

While there are no active bids for Kamberi at the moment, offers from both the UK and the continent are expected to come in.
