The first Hibs team of the new campaign has been named by head coach Jack Ross, and Easter Road supporters had plenty to say on the selection.

Josh Doig was handed a start after impressing during pre-season while new signings Alex Gogic, Kevin Nisbet, and Drey Wright were all named in the starting XI.

One supporter wrote: “No fans in the stadium so be much easier to bed Doig in. Won’t have to cope with fan pressure if he makes the odd mistake. Looks a talent.”

Dean Clements added: “I like the look of that! Good to see Doig getting the nod… but we look pretty quick and dynamic. Not the worst looking subs bench either! Missing another midfielder and striker I reckon though.”

Another ecstatic fan stated: “Announce a Jack Ross knighthood.”

Supporter Leishy simply wrote: “I am speechless.”

Liam Fogarty tweeted: “Pleased with that. Big Doidge off the bench to get the winner.”

Writing on Twitter, @jasond1988 added: “Delighted with that starting XI. Great to see the new signings starting as well as Doig, who has looked great whenever I’ve watched him. Good strength in depth on the bench too.”

Connaire Wallace said: “Bold move putting Doig in for his debut. One that I think will pay off though.”

Brendan Watson proclaimed: “Now that’s a team!”

Dougie Todman added: “I’m actually fairly happy with that.”

Christopher Black tweeted: “Must be about the first time in ten years that Stevenson hasn’t started the first game of the season.”

Last word to Mikey Taylor who confidently predicted: “If that’s not a team to stop Celtic’s 10 in a row, I don’t know what is.”
