The Easter Road club are said to be considering a move for the 24-year-old if they get an acceptable offer for in-demand defender Ryan Porteous.

Hibs knocked back a £1 million bid from Millwall in January and are prepared for renewed interest in the fans’ favourite when the transfer window re-opens.

Edinburgh-born Kerr is a boyhood Hibs supporter and will soon enter the final year of his contract at McDiarmid Park.

He has played regularly for three seasons now, racking up 134 appearances, and was named club captain prior to the 2019-20 campaign.

Earlier this term he lifted the Betfred Cup trophy after St Johnstone defeated Livingston in the final and he might get the chance to do a rare non-Old Firm cup double as Callum Davidson’s side prepare to face St Mirren in today’s Scottish Cup semi-final.
