The fixture, dubbed ‘Le Match’, has been scheduled for Sunday November 20 with a 3pm kick-off, and will feature a Sauzée Select XI taking on a Hanlon Stevenson Foundation (HSF) side.

Sauzée had already confirmed his involvement while CIS Cup-winning captain Rob Jones and ex-striker Dirk Lehmann were announced last week.

The Frenchman returned to Easter Road for the first time since being relieved of his duties as manager in 2002 when he presented the match ball ahead of the 1-0 victory over Motherwell earlier this month.

Over the weekend it was confirmed that 2016 Scottish Cup-winner Dylan McGeouch will also be taking part alongside current Easter Road scout Kevin Harper, who represented the Easter Road side between 1992 and 1998. Former winger Ivan Sproule, ex-captain Gordon Hunter, and prolific goalscorer and boyhood Hibee Derek Riordan will also participate.

Previewing the event, Sauzée told the HSF website: “I am very much looking forward to playing at Easter Road again. It will be great to see all the Hibs fans and meet up with former teammates and past players. I know the funds raised from this game will be put to good use and will benefit a number of different people.”

Further names from Hibs history are expected to be announced in the days leading up to the match, which will be held on the day before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar gets under way. The following weekend Hibs host Middlesbrough in a mid-season friendly, the first time the two teams have met since summer 2008.
