However, the former Grasshopper Zurich player landed in Scotland on Sunday evening, making sure he avoids any 14-day quarantine rules that come into play on Monday for foreign citizens arriving in the United Kingdom.

Kamberi spent the second half of last season on loan at Rangers, clocking up nine appearances, but he made comments about a “dream move” to the club that angered Hibs supporters.

There is interest in the Switzerland Under-21 internationalist from a variety of clubs across Europe, but as things stand, Kamberi will be reporting to Hibs’ East Mains training base to join the rest of the squad for pre-season training ahead of a mooted Premiership resumption date of August 1.

Kamberi still has one more year on his deal at Hibs, but it is understood both Hibs and the player believe there is no future for him at the club following his comments when making the move to Rangers at the end of January.
