Dino Leddie will spend a few months on loan in Spain

Hibs defender Dino Leddie has agreed a loan move to Spanish side CD Almuñecar City until January.

The development squad centre-back, who moved to Easter Road in August last year, previously spent time on loan at Lowland League outfit Gala Fairydean Rovers.

Leddie has previous experience of playing abroad – after leaving Hearts, the Dundee-born player spent time with Swedish fourth-tier club Ytterhogdals IK before returning to Scotland.

Almuñecar City, based south of Granada and just along the coast from Malaga, currently compete in the Primera Andaluza Granada in the sixth tier of Spanish football.

Founded in 2017, the club serves as a senior team for the FC Malaga City academy and since joining the league Almuñecar have ecured back-to-back promotions and are now targeting a place in the fourth-tier Tercera Division.

Hibs are keen to send more of their young players overseas to aid their development, with the possibility that other youngsters could follow in Leddie’s footsteps.

The Easter Road side’s sporting director Graeme Mathie said: “This is a great opportunity for Dino, whose attitude and application has been excellent ever since he joined the club.

“This move allows him to experience adult football abroad, which is something we’d like to facilitate for more of our young players, and it will undoubtedly be a tremendous learning experience for Dino.

“We’re pleased he’ll be able to return in January when we can discuss his future development options.”
