Hibs have been linked with a move for St Johnstone winger Drey Wright.

The 25-year-old is considering his options after reportedly turning down the chance to stay with the McDiarmid Park club on reduced wages, according to the Daily Record.

The former Colchester United wide man, who became a Saints regular last season after recovering from a long-term knee injury, made 45 appearances for the Scottish Premiership club over a two-year period, scoring twice, with former manager Tommy Wright, prior to his recent departure, stressing that extending the wide man’s deal had been a priority.

The speedy winger would provide Hibs boss Jack Ross with competition for current wide men Martin Boyle and Daryl Horgan. However, any potential moves to bring new players to Easter Road are on hold while the current squad are on deferred wages.

Hibs implemented wage deferrals of between 20 and 50 per cent for players and senior staff back in March after the coronavirus-enforced shutdown, and the club has confirmed it will not sign any new players until those affected are back on full pay, with no date yet in place for this to happen.

Clubs are free to resume training from June 11 - the date the current suspension on football activities in Scotland is lifted - with plans being put in place for the 2020/21 Premiership season to potentially start on the weekend of August 1.

The Evening News understands that Hibs have not yet given their players a firm date to report back for training with options still being considered.
