Tom James – Wigan Athletic
League One basement boys Wigan continue to struggle and after a 2-2 draw against League Two Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park, the Latics lost 3-1 on penalties in the Football League Trophy. James captained the team and scored Wigan's first penalty in the shoot-out but none of his team-mates converted and Tranmere triumphed, ending Wigan’s hopes of progressing in the competition.

Started at left-back for the Warriors in their Betfred Cup meeting with Alloa, notching the assist for Cammy Graham’s opener before being replaced with 15 minutes to go.
