David Gray and his team will be looking to get some points on the board when they travel to St Mirren in this season’s Scottish Premiership opener.
The Cabbage endured a season to forget last term as they slumped to eighth in the league table and will be demanding wholescale improvements this time around.
Hibs began last season with a disappointing 3-2 home loss to St Mirren in a result which set the tone for the remainder of the season. But how have they fared in their previous nine openers?
Here we take a look at every opening league game that Hibs have played in the last 10 years.

5. Season 2019-20 – Hibernian 1 St Mirren 0
A good start doesn’t guarantee everything, of course. Even if Scott Allan scoring the only goal, five minutes from time, was a great story for a player beginning his third stint as a Hibee. They didn’t win another league game until November 9 – and that ultimately cost Paul Heckingbottom his job. Lying tenth when he got the bullet, they rallied to finish seventh by the time the season was called because of Covid. Photo: Ross MacDonald - SNS Group

6. Season 2018-19 – Hibernian 3 Motherwell 0
What a start for Neil Lennon’s Euro adventurers, who had already impressed in the first two rounds of Europa League qualifying when they absolutely scudded the Steelmen at Easter Road. John McGinn – already Super, even if only Hibs and St Mirren fans knew it – was among the stars on the day. Lennon was sacked/quit/left by mutual agreement in January, and Hibs finished fifth. 7. Season 2017-18 – Hibernian 3 Partick 1
Hibs kicked off their return to the big time with a dominant display against Thistle. And that was despite falling behind to a Chris Erskine penalty after seven minutes, with goals from Martin Boyle, Steven Whittaker and Simon Murray bagging the three points. Newly-promoted Hibs would go on to finish fourth – just three points behind third-placed Rangers - under Neil Lennon. A remarkable campaign in so many ways. Photo: SNS Group Paul Devlin

8. Season 2016-17 – Falkirk 1 Hibernian 2 (Scottish Championship)
Not anyone’s favourite season of the past decade, given the environment. But there was a job to be done. And Neil Lennon's men set about doing it in the right way, Jason Cumming on target as they beat Falkirk away to set up a campaign that saw them win the tier two title by 11 points.
