Hibs have confirmed that a ‘core group’ of players and staff will return to training on Monday for the first time since the Covid-19 shutdown, but fans have been reminded to stay away.

Final preparations are being put in place at the East Mains complex to welcome back Jack Ross and his squad for the first day of pre-season with the club taking the necessary steps to ensure a safe as possible return.

Hibs also cautioned supporters that there will no access to the training ground for the time being.

In a statement, the club said: “A core group of first-team players and staff will begin work on their pre-season programme from Monday at the Hibernian Training Centre.

“We know you are looking forward to getting behind the team again and we are doing everything we can to facilitate that. With that being said, we need your help and understanding at this crucial stage.

“The Scottish Government has made it clear that any gathering of supporters – whether it’s at a training ground or stadium – could result in the delay of plans to restart Scottish football. We all still have a shared responsibility to assist the NHS in curbing the spread of coronavirus.

“With that in mind, there will be no access to HTC for supporters and we would ask that you don’t attempt to gain entry. The same applies to any congregation at closed-door games, while we build towards getting you back to games in person.

“There will be a time for autographs and selfies again and we thank you for your patience and continued support in the meantime.”
