Hibs reportedly knock back possible £4m Premier League package for Josh Doig
Hibs have rejected a bid of £2.5million for Josh Doig from Premier League newboys Watford, according to reports.
The teenage star has attracted plenty of interest following his breakthrough campaign.
Doig, one of the most talented youngsters in Scotland, took his form for the club’s youth teams into Jack Ross’ first-team, making the left-back or wing-back position his own.
The 19-year-old is a Scotland international in the making.
Therefore it is little surprise there have been plenty of admiring glances from south of the border.
The Hornets are keen to replenish their squad following their promotion back to the top-flight.
The teenager played 36 times last season with a handful of appearances on loan at Queen’s Park the previous campaign.
“The sky’s the limit for Josh, he’s got loads of great attributes but he’s only 19,” Stevenson said.
"He played a lot of games last season at a high level, which is magnificent but he still has things to learn and I think Hibs is a good place for him to do that.
“He’s still not played in front of fans and experienced what that’s like, so hopefully we can hold on to him for a bit longer.”
He added: “Maybe in an ideal world he’d get bought and loaned back to keep learning here.”
