Goalkeeper Conrad Logan, whose performance in the penalty shoot-out semi-final victory against Dundee United ensured the Capital club reached the final in which they defeated Rangers 3-2, has joined Stamford AFC of the Northern Premier League Division One South East.

The Daniels are currently eighth in the league, six points off league-leaders Leek Town.

Manager Graham Drury said: “I’m really pleased to sign Conrad Logan – welcome to the club. Just shows with him and Luke Steele (former Barnsley and Panathinaikos ‘keper) signing for us they really appreciate the lower level and just love the game.”

First-choice shot-stopper Dan Haystead is currently sidelined with a knee injury and Steele and Logan have been brought in to provide further options and support young ‘keeper Max Peverell.

Football at that level in England has been suspended until March 6 so the 34-year-old may have a while to wait to make his competitive debut.

Stamford is Logan’s 11th club following spells with Leicester City, Boston United, Stockport County, Luton Town, Bristol Rovers, Rotherham United, Rochdale, Hibs, Mansfield Town, Forest Green Rovers, and Anstey Nomads of the United Counties League.

Logan, affectionately nicknamed the Polar Bear, turned down offers from league clubs to join ninth-tier Leicestershire side Anstey in November last year where he served as a player-coach.

Earlier this month he jokingly offered his services to Hibs when Ofir Marciano’s injury and Dillon Barnes’ recall by parent club QPR left the Easter Road side with something of a goalkeeping crisis.
