Hibs set to complete signing of former Motherwell starlet Chris Cadden
Under freedom of contract, he joined Ohio-based MLS side Columbus Crew, but was immediately loaned to Oxford United, where he made 23 appearances in his six-month stint.
He returned to the United States for the start of the 2020 MLS season, but he has not featured as much as anticipated and is looking for a return to the UK.
It is understood that Oxford were also interested, but Hibs look to have pipped the English League One side and with a deal informally agreed, Hibs hope to complete all the paperwork this week.
A return to Scotland could help bolster the versatile Scot’s hopes of impressing national boss Steve Clarke, and help him add to the two caps earned in the 2018 summer tour of Peru and Mexico.
A versatile right-footed player, his ability to operate in central or right-sided roles in defence or midfield makes him attractive to Hibs manager Jack Ross.
The Hibs boss has said that he is looking to recruit two or three new players in this transfer window and, with the small squad stretched in recent games and form stuttering, Hibs hope to complete deals early in the month, giving them as much time as possible to bed in and make an impact in the second half of a campaign that still promises much.
