Hibs transfer news: Mallan, Nisbet, Porteous - what to expect from Easter Road club on deadline day

It is unlikely that Birmingham City will be back in with a new bid for Kevin Nisbet after they made it known that they had hit their price ceiling yesterday, and, at this late stage, any deal for first team regulars would be viewed unfavourably by manager Jack Ross.

But he has said several times throughout this transfer window that nothing can be ruled out. Which is why, having secured his signing targets earlier in the month, he will probably be quite happy to see the window close at midnight with his main men still in situ.

Millwall have been quiet since their initial £1m offer for Ryan Porteous was rejected. The English League One side had wanted to take the Scotland prospect to The Den to offer defensive competition and having had that offer turned down by Hibs, they are still looking to bolster their options. They still haven’t signed anyone else, so they could return with an enhanced proposition. With two years left on his contract it will have to be something Hibs would struggle to rebuff, with so little time left to bring in a replacement.

They know they would still be able to sign up free agents after tonight’s deadline but it would be a gamble.

One player who does appear to be on his way out is midfielder Stevie Mallan, after the 24-year-old’s on-off switch to Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor advanced quickly yesterday. He was missing from Hibs’ matchday squad at Tannadice and, having travelled to Turkey, an initial loan deal, with the option to make the move permanent in the summer, is expected to be concluded today.
