Hibs have unveiled a new yellow third kit for the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership season which pays tribute to the club’s supporters.

Fans have dug deep during the coronavirus pandemic to help the club through a period of great uncertainty, and nearly 1,000 new or rejoined members have pledged money to the club through the Hibernian Supporters organisation, the club’s second largest shareholder, since 15 June, with a donation of nearly £25,000 handed over last month.

The new shirt, which will be paired with yellow shorts and yellow socks with green piping, will have the names of all Hibernian Supporters who joined before 21 October 2019 included within the fabric.

A statement from the club read: “Perseverance is ingrained in the DNA of the Hibernian support and it is with that in mind that we proudly present your new third kit – which is a tribute to some of the supporters who have given so generously to Hibernian Supporters.

“Be in no doubt that every individual donation – alongside the countless other acts from supporters of late – has helped strengthen the club and allow us to act with confidence in signing three new players with real pedigree."

Chief executive Leeann Dempster, who earlier this month thanked fans for playing a part in the signings of striker Kevin Nisbet and winger Drey Wright, added: “We are all indebted to our supporters and not least those who have backed Hibernian Supporters – since its inception and in recent times.

“The regular, increasing payments from Hibernian Supporters will enable us to emerge from the other side of what has been an uncertain period in as strong a position as we can be. I have said it often enough that we are humbled if not surprised by the level of support.

“Hibernian supporters have demonstrated time and time again not just what their club means to them, but that they will do whatever it takes to play their part.

“We liked the idea of the shirt as one opportunity for us to say ‘thank you’. Quite simply, it will be worn with pride.”

The new strip will be made to order, with further information available on the club’s website.
