Hibs winger Daryl Horgan looks likely to have played his final game for the club, with a move back to the English Championship on the cards.

Jack Ross confirmed that the Irishman is set to leave Easter Road in the coming days and Wycombe Wanderers is reported to be his destination.

The 28-year-old was left out of the squad that lost to Aberdeen on Sunday as Hibs surrendered their unbeaten start to the season in a 1-0 home defeat, with new signing Jamie Murphy, who has joined on a season-long loan from Rangers ahead of a permanent move, taking his place on the bench.

Horgan, who had started four of the first five Scottish Premiership fixtures this season, is out of contract at the end of the season having joined Hibs two years ago from English Championship side Preston North End.

A transfer to Wycombe, who are set to play in the English Championship for the first time in their history having earned promotion through the 2019-20 League One play-offs, would complete a return to England’s second tier for the Galway-born wide-man.

Speaking on Sunday ahead of the Dons defeat, Hibs manager Ross explained that Horgan’s impending departure had prompted the move for Murphy.

“Daryl Horgan isn’t involved today as it is likely he will move on in the next few days,” he said.

"It’s something that has been on the horizon for a couple of weeks. Daryl is most likely going to return to England so we had to go about finding a replacement and a creative wide player.

"We enquired about Jamie Murphy’s availability and managed to structure a deal that would be able to bring him to the club for the next couple of years."
