Hibs youngster Innes Murray has joined Championship side Alloa on a season-long loan.

The development squad midfielder made a good impression on the Easter Road coaching staff during pre-season and has moved to the Wasps for the 2020-21 campaign in order to gain regular first-team football.

The 22-year-old spent part of last season on loan at League One side Airdrie, making five appearances before the coronavirus shutdown.

He also had a loan spell at Stenhousemuir in League Two during the 2017-18 season, playing 22 times and scoring two goals.

Murray follows in the footsteps of Easter Road team mate Ben Stirling, the defender having spent last season on loan with Peter Grant’s side.

“I’m looking forward to getting started with Alloa,” Murray said. “I know how much Ben enjoyed working with Peter Grant last season and he’s someone that’s worked at the highest level.

“I’ve worked hard over the course of pre-season and feel in good condition, so I’m looking forward to taking that into the Championship season when it comes around.”

Hibs sporting director Graeme Mathie added: “We’re delighted to confirm this loan for Innes.

“It’s a great opportunity for him to play in the Scottish Championship and we believe this is a great fit for all parties.

“I’d like to thank Peter Grant for the way he helped with Ben Stirling last season and we’re delighted to work with him again to support the development of another one of our young players.”
