Homegrown Hibs ace heads out on loan to SPFL rival as Easter Road club active on Deadline Day
All-round attacking threat will team up with Scottish Premiership side immediately
Hibs have sent Josh Campbell on loan to SPFL Scottish Premiership rivals St Johnstone, as David Gray looks to rebalance his squad ahead of this afternoon’s transfer deadline. And there could be more business to follow between now and the 5 pm registration cut-off.
Despite struggling for regular game time, Campbell has still contributed to his team’s campaign so far this season, battling back from a couple of niggling injuries to score in a history-making win over Rangers at Ibrox. But he’s finding himself increasingly squeezed out of the starting XI, with the arrival of Jacob Devaney on loan from Manchester United last week pushing him further down the pecking order for a start in a packed midfield.
Campbell, now 26, has come through the ranks from the Hibs academy to become an influential figure during his time at Hibs, featuring in a number of historic moments under the guidance of manager David Gray, especially. He’s heading into the final year of his contract at Easter Road.
Hibs are expected to confirm Campbell’s season-loan switch to Perth soon. And there is still room for more movement - out and in - before the deadline passes.
