Joe Newell's amusing message after new Hibs deal as fans express delight at announcement

Hibs star Joe Newell has been inundated with messages across social media after it was announced he had signed a new deal.

The 27-year-old penned a two-year contract extension with his deal set to expire at the end of the season.

Newell's Hibs career had started slowly after being signed by Paul Heckingbottom, something he alluded to on Twitter.

He said: “Delighted to extend my stay here at this great club and in this great city thank you for all the nice messages... bit different to 18 months ago.”

The club's supporters have understandably reacted positive to the new contract:
