Arsenal and Chelsea are both keeping tabs on Hibs defender Josh Doig, according to reports.

The 18-year-old broke into the Easter Road first team at the start of the season and his performances have caught the eye of the English Premier League pair as well as Celtic.

Both London clubs have raided Scottish teams for young players in the past, most recently the Gunners plucking Kieran Tierney from Celtic and the Stamford Bridge outfit snapping up Rangers youngster Billy Gilmour.

Doig, who crossed the Capital divide when he left Hearts to join Hibs as a youngster, is under contract until the summer of 2023 and has been capped by Scotland at Under-18 level.

Doig has played 19 times for Hibs in all competitions this term and has been working closely with long-serving left-back Lewis Stevenson.

Millwall and Sunderland have also been credited with an interest in the teenager, and while the Hoops are monitoring the left-sided player, the Glasgow club are unlikely to make a move in this window, according to Sky Sports.

‘No pressure to sell players’

Speaking earlier this week, Hibs head coach Jack Ross said that there had been nothing beyond notes of interest.

He said: “We’ve had young players who have performed well this season but as it stands there has been nothing that would see any of those young players depart.

"We will see what happens in the days that are left in the window. There’s no duress we are put under to sell players.

"But there will always be potentially the right time and the right situation for players to move on, if it makes business sense for the club and the player’s development.”
