Goals from Kevin Nisbet and Joe Newell gave Hibs a 2-1 win over Hamilton Accies in a closed-doors friendly this afternoon.

The goals came in quick succession just before the interval, with Markus Fjortoft pulling one back for Brian Rice’s team early in the second period.

The match, which was played at Easter Road as a test event ahead of Hibs’ Premiership opener against Kilmarnock on August 1, was the Capital club’s third pre-season game after a 1-1 draw with St Mirren and goalless draw away to St Johnstone earlier this month.

Defender Darren McGregor was handed the captain’s armband while Drey Wright, Adam Jackson, Alex Gogic, Lewis Stevenson, Josh Doig, Ofir Marciano and Ryan Porteous were among those to get game-time.

Midfielder Stevie Mallan, who hasn’t played for Jack Ross’ side since the Boxing Day victory over Hearts at Tynecastle in December last year, was one of several substitutions early in the second half.

Hibs’ next pre-season game is against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday.
