Jack Ross has given an update on Hibs’ pursuit of St Mirren midfielder Kyle Magennis, after the Paisley side accepted a bid for the 22-year-old.

The Buddies have turned down two initial offers from the Easter Road side, with manager Jim Goodwin stating that he did not want to lose his club captain.

A St Mirren statement issued earlier this week said the club had “no desire” to sell the player amid interest from Ross, who worked with Magennis when he was in charge at the Simple Digital Arena.

The Hibs boss spoke to BBC Radio Scotland ahead of the Capital club’s Scottish Premiership clash with Hamilton Accies.

Ross said: “I’ve been told it’s almost there. Kyle will be here tonight to watch the game and has worked out most of his medical today.

"Hopefully it will be done very soon but equally, it isn’t done yet.”
