George Francomb says Hibs must gnore Pars result

GEORGE FRANCOMB insisted today that Hibs must focus solely on Sunday’s trip to Inverness – and not allow themselves to be distracted by Dunfermline’s result at Tannadice tomorrow.

The Easter Road side face the Highlanders 24 hours after their relegation rivals visit Dundee United, with the bottom-placed Pars just three points behind Pat Fenlon’s team.

However Francomb stressed that he and his team-mates will concentrate on getting results for themselves rather than relying on others. “I suppose it would be good to see Dunfermline’s result but at the end of the day we have to win on Sunday,” he said. “We shouldn’t need any greater incentive than the three points from our match. First and foremost, we want to pull ourselves away from Dunfermline. If we can beat Inverness and Dunfermline fail to pick up points then we’ll have stretched the gap at the bottom a bit and closed in a little on Caley with another game to come against them in a few weeks time.”

Meanwhile Hibs have agreed to allow Sean Welsh to stay on at Partick Thistle until the end of the season. The 22-year-old, whose Easter Road contract runs out in the summer, has made five appearances for the Jags since joining in February.
