The former St Mirren and Sunderland boss agreed to become the successor to Paul Heckingbottom last week and is the club's third full-time manager in 2019.

He'll begin with a tricky home tie against Motherwell, who have won their last four contests against teams outside the top three.

He does, however, inherit a winning team following the 4-1 destruction of St Johnstone in Perth a fortnight ago.

It's likely he'll largely keep the same starting XI given the result. If he is to make a change it would probably come in the centre of the park with Stevie Mallan in contention for a return.

The midfielder starred under Ross at St Mirren and will be itching to get back into the team having played every second of the season prior to the match a week past Saturday.

Key clash: Hibs have been accused of being soft in the middle of the park and that's not an accusation you can throw at Motherwell dynamo Allan Campbell. The 21-year-old is an all-action, tough-tackling grafter in the centre and his opposite number, whether it's Vykintas Slivka, Josh Vela or Mallan, will have to match his intensity.

Last meeting: Hibs were defeated 3-0 at Fir Park at the end of August with Sherwin Seedorf, Liam Donnelly and Jermaine Hylton on the scoresheet.

Match details: Saturday, 23rd November. Easter Road stadium. Kick-off 3.00pm. Tickets for the match are still available via the Hibs website. The game will not be broadcast live or repeated on BBC Alba.

Referee: John Beaton will take charge of his seventh Premiership game of the season and, rather surprisingly, this will be the fourth involving Hibs. They failed to win all three of the previous encounters as Paul Heckingbottom's men were thumped 6-1 at Ibrox, beaten at home to Edinburgh rivals Hearts and drew away to Hamilton Accies.

Odds: Hibs 5/4 Draw 5/2 Motherwell 2/1
