Vieira to star in Murray’s testimonial

Hibs skipper Ian Murray was today celebrating after pulling off a major coup in persuading French superstar Patrick Vieira to play in his Testimonial Match.

The 35-year-old former AC Milan, Arsenal, Juventus, Inter Milan and Manchester City ace will pull on a green and white jersey as a team of Hibs Legends face a contemporary Hibs side at Easter Road on Sunday, September 4.

Vieira won a World Cup and European Championship with France, while collecting a total of 107 caps. He also picked up three English Premiership titles, five FA Cup winners’ medals and four Serie A titles in a glittering career.

But Murray’s Testimonial Match will be his first appearance in Edinburgh. Graeme Cadger, chairman of Murray’s Testimonial Committee has received written confirmation that Vieira, now football development executive at Manchester City, has accepted an invitation to make a guest appearance in the game.
