Christian Doidge scored for the first time in 15 matches as Hibs fought back from a goal down to earn a share of the spoils in West Lothian.

Will it be all smiles for Hibs at ten to five this afternoon?

The Welshman’s strike just before the interval cancelled out Craig Sibbald’s opener, and although Hibs were camped in the Livingston box for large spells of the second period they were unable to find a winner for the second week running.

Kevin Nisbet went closest for the visitors who are now seven points clear of Aberdeen in the race for third.

  • Sides have one win apiece from previous two meetings this season
  • Hibs won last time at Almondvale with Kevin Nisbet scoring a hat-trick
  • Win would take Hibs on to 58 points

I’m in West Lothian today for Hibs’ match with Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena (although it will forever be Almondvale to those of us of a certain vintage). Three points for the visitors would help strengthen their hold on third place with Aberdeen, six points behind in fourth, at Dundee United this afternoon. Team news should be with us around 1.45pm with our coverage starting at 1.30pm.

One change from last week as Chris Cadden drops out and Kevin Nisbet is handed a starting berth.

Marciano; P McGinn, Porteous, Hanlon; Boyle, Newell, Gogic, Irvine, Doig; Nisbet, Doidge.

Subs: Macey, Gray, McGregor, Stevenson, Cadden, Hallberg, Allan, Wright, Magennis

No Cadden in the starting team suggests that Jack Ross may have opted for a 4-3-3 formation with Boyle as a forward or, alternatively, a 4-3-1-2 with Boyle as a 10. Or, he could have Gogic sitting in a diamond.

About five minutes until kick-off. Livi in their all-yellow home kit, Hibs also in their traditional home colours of green and white. There’s a fair breeze swirling around the stadium but apart from that it is a glorious, sunny spring day.

Under way in Livingston

The hosts get us up and running

Hibs with a couple of early corners, the ball falls to Nisbet but he’s offside (and knows it) as he hits it from just outside the six-yard box

Hanlon does well to block a curling effort from Sibbald

Sibbald’s cross finds Emmanuel-Thomas, whose flicked header won’t trouble Marciano and Forrest can’t reach it.

Newell feeds Doidge but McCrorie is out quickly to smother

Sibbald gives Marciano something to think about from about 20 yards and the Israeli ‘keeper smothers at the second attempt. Livi win the ball back and Emmanuel-Thomas smacks one into the side-netting at the near post.

Longridge cautioned for impeding Boyle. The free kick comes to nothing.

Great work by Irvine to win the ball back in midfield, he finds Nisbet who tries to play in Doidge but it runs through to McCrorie

Hibs stream forward and Newell picks out Boyle, the Australian internationalist takes a couple of steps and lets fly but it’s well wide

Marciano with a powerful save at his right-hand post to deny Sibbald. Corner Livingston.
