'Looking the real deal, this team'; 'wanted to see Laidlaw get a run-out' - Hibs fans react to Stranraer win

Hibs fans were satisfied as they watched their side stroll into the last eight of the Scottish Cup with a straightforward win against Stranraer at Stair Park.

The League Two side had their moments but in truth the Scottish Premiership outfit were just too strong for the part-timers as a first-half goal by Christian Doidge was added to by Kevin Nisbet from a free kick, and a Martin Boyle brace including a penalty following a foul on Ryan Porteous.

Hibs hit the post twice and could have ended up winning by far more than the final scoreline of 4-0.

John Sutherland called for more: “Another great result, but we now need to keep that up in all of the upcoming games, starting with the next match against Livingston.”

Allan Tennant wrote: “Would like to have seen Laidlaw given a run-out but apart from that a solid win.”

Glenn Dorrian said: “Very professional, managed Stranraer’s little spell at 1-0 and never looked in danger.”

Gary Small was satisfied: “Excellent from Hibs; very professional performance, just what I’d come to expect.”

Greg Moisés added: “I hope nobody was scouting Nisbet today…! Thank God for Boyle!”

Colin Thomson reckoned: “Off day for Nisbet ....think Ross should have given Laidlaw the last 15.”

Hugh Mitchell stuck up for Nisbet: “Should have had a hat-trick, but strikers miss chances as well as score them. His all round game was okay.”

Cameron Gore added: “I wish you all would stop giving Nisbet a hard time. He’s a good striker and will only get better.”

On a sartorial note Andrew McB wrote: “Hibs have worn that Hibernian Supporters kit almost as much as the home kit this season. Love it.”
