Michael Weir: Hibs have come through a tough 2020 in better shape than they started it

When you look back at where Hibs were when they started the year, and where they are now, I think you can appreciate the job that Jack Ross has done

When you factor in the Covid situation, and having to deal with that while trying to build his own squad, he has done very well to get us competing at the top end of the table.

When you look back over 2020 our win ratio has been good. Yes, we've had wee slip-ups here and there, but when you're trying to build your own team you're going to get that. But overall, the manager has done extremely well in terms of getting results on the board with a new side. Some of the players have been there a while now but a lot of them are just learning what it takes to play for Hibs and the expectations of the club and the fan-base. I think they've dealt with that reasonably well.

You can always improve but if you look where we were at the start of the year we would have taken where we are at the moment all day long. We've gone from looking to get away from the bottom of the table, to pushing for the top six, to now looking capable of competing for a European place.

That's the difference Jack has made since he came in, and he's changed the we play as well so overall I think we're looking good and, going into the new year, we can look forward to building again.

Jack is only a year and a bit into the job and I think he's built the foundations to push Hibs on and once he adds more to the squad through time I think we'll be in good shape. There's always room for improvement but certainly from when he came in til now he's made a real good impact on the club and hopefully it can continue.

I'd like to wish the supporters and everyone associated with Hibs a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It's been a difficult year for everybody and I just hope everyone stays safe and we can look forward to getting fans back inside Easter Road at some stage in the not too distant future.
