The Motherwell midfielder was linked with a move to Hibs earlier in the season with the Easter Road club said to be monitoring his situation.

Campbell has entered the final six months of his contract at Fir Park which means he is free to speak to clubs regarding a pre-contract agreement.

The Scottish Sun report Millwall boss Gary Rowett wants to add the 22-year-old to his squad this month.

Campbell has been a midfield powerhouse for Motherwell and is closing in on 150 appearances for the club.

His influence and combative performances have led to interest from around the UK with Aberdeen also said to be keen on the player, Derek McInnes having waxed lyrical about him in September.

McGinn comparison

Current Motherwell interim boss Keith Lasley likened the player to former Hibs favourite John McGinn.

“John McGinn has obviously progressed really quickly but there are definite similarities," he said.

“I remember playing against him and Kenny McLean and thinking that the two boys could go somewhere.

“I look at Allan and have the same thoughts.

“Football careers take you on different paths and I’m not saying he’ll end up at Aston Villa or a club of that size in the next six months but Allan certainly has the tools and the attitude to achieve that.”

Meanwhile, Hibs are understood to be on the verge of adding to their squad in the coming days with former midfielder Chris Cadden and goalkeeper Matt Macey.

Kevin Dabrowski has also been recalled from his loan with Dumbarton.
