Some have strong Hibs connections, others have strong profiles in the women’s game. The club have yet to explain what the type of manager they are looking for but the recent transition to full-time professional status is expected to be at the forefront of their thinking. Gibson has been an integral part of that process and Hibs will now be looking to move it forward.
5. Grant Scott
The former Hibs manager won the double with the Edinburgh side in both 2018 and 2019 as well as guiding them to the knockout stages of the 2019 Champions League. Since then, Scott has taken charge of St. Johnstone and more recently stood in as interim manager for Glasgow City in 2021. It is understood he is very keen to get back into management citing his desires on Twitter last month. (Photo by Craig Foy / SNS Group) Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group
6. Willie Kirk
The Edinburgh-born man started his career off at Hibs back in 2010 and won multiple trophies in his five-year spell. He then moved down south, picking up roles at Bristol City, Manchester United and Everton before taking the head position at Leicester City last year. While Kirk leaving WSL football for the SWPL may seem farfetched, the Foxes currently sit two points above the relegation zone. If Leicester do drop, the 44-year-old may be tempted to leave the East Midlands club giving Hibs the perfect chance to tempt him back into the role. Credit: Mike Egerton/PA Photo: Mike Egerton
7. Kevin Thomson
The former Hibs midfielder was most recently the manager of the Kelty Hearts men's team taking over the side in 2021. He led them to the Scottish League Two Championship before resigning at the end of last May. Thomson still lives locally and is open to offers within the football industry. He hasn't worked in the women's game before but the Hibs job could be an opportunity that's too good to overlook. (Photo by Craig Foy / SNS Group) Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group
8. Suzy Shepherd
The former Hibs player has worked wonders at Boroughmuir since taking over. Last season her team were one game away from the SWPL1 unfortunately losing to Glasgow Girls 3-1. This season the Edinburgh club could make that promotion a reality. If they beat Montrose on the final day and other results go their way they will get into the promotion play-offs. What may really tempt Hibs though is her ability to develop young players with recent Scotland starlet Emma Watson being personally trained by Shepherd for a number of years.
