The rest of the Easter Road squad are due to return on Monday as they prepare for European football on July 22 and then the start of the new Scottish Premiership season at the beginning of August.

However, the Scotland striker – who was a late substitute in each of the nation’s three Euro 2020 group matches – will be given an extra few days off, reuniting with his team-mates on July 3, before they travel to England for a pre-season training camp.

There remains uncertainty about the 24-year-old striker’s future with the Leith club, with crunch talks anticipated ahead of him rejoining the group.

According to the club, there have been no formal approaches for the man who scored 18 goals for them last season, but several clubs from north and south of the border are weighing up a move for the player who was the subject of a £3million bid from Birmingham City in January.

Under contract until 2024, Hibs opted to reject that offer, despite the former Dunfermline striker making it clear that he was keen to try his hand in the English Championship. Since then he has made his Scotland debut, coming on in the 68th minute in the World Cup qualifier against Faroe Islands, and netted his first international goal against the Netherlands in a 2-2 draw

His appearances at a major tournament will have elevated his standing further and Hibs will have a tough job holding onto the player they signed last summer for around £250,000 from Dunfermline.
