Oscar McIntyre signs first professional deal with Hibs
Hibs have handed a first professional contract to teenage defender Oscar McIntyre.
The 16-year-old, who had offers from other clubs, penned the deal earlier this week and comes out of 2004 age group.
McIntyre joined Hibs from Spartans and has impressed the coaching staff at East Mains, most recently in last week’s under-18s 4-0 win over Dundee United.
Hibs sporting director Graeme Mathie told the Hibs website: “We are delighted that Oscar has agreed to sign a professional contract with the club and he becomes the latest player from our talented 2004 group to do so," he said.
"Oscar’s journey has been different to that of most of his peers in that he joined around two years ago from playing youth club football locally.
"Oscar has an incredible desire to do well and will give himself every change to succeed.
"Oscar rejected other opportunities to sign for Hibernian and I’d like to thank his family for trusting us with the next stage in his development.”
