Rangers 2-1 Hibs recap: Late Nisbet goal sparks hope of comeback but Gers hold on

A late goal from Kevin Nisbet wasn’t enough to spark a comeback from Hibs as they went down 2-1 to Rangers at Ibrox.

Kemar Roofe had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half shortly before Joe Aribo volleyed the hosts in front on 20 minutes. Hibs went close to an equaliser through Martin Boyle, Nisbet, and Paul Hanlon but were unable to breach Allan McGregor’s goal.

The Light Blues started the second half strongly and Ryan Kent increased their lead on 62 minutes with a stunning strike from the edge of the area.

Nisbet gave Hibs hope with a headed goal 12 minutes from time after Ryan Porteous had seen a goal ruled out for a foul, but Steven Gerrard’s side held on for the three points.

The outcome means Hibs remain four points clear of Aberdeen in third place albeit with a far superior goal difference.
