The reason why Celtic v Hibs has been moved to a Monday

The Celtic v Hibs Premiership match in January has been moved from a traditional Saturday 3pm slot to a Monday at 7.45pm.

Originally scheduled for January 9 at Celtic Park, it will now be played on January 11 after a “club request”.

The Evening News has learned that the switch was asked for by Celtic on the grounds of player welfare.

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, domestic and European fixtures have been packed into a tight schedule, so it is understood that Celtic are keen to give their players a breather after the hectic festive period, which concludes against Rangers at Ibrox.
