Heavy snowfall across Scotland had already claimed the Scottish Championship matches between Raith Rovers and Ayr United, and Dunfermline Athletic v Dundee before the pitch inspection in Dingwall, while Inverness Caledonian Thistle's home match against Morton was called off after a pitch inspection shortly before the Staggies' pitch was scrutinised.

Hibs will now have to wait until next weekend's home match against Hamilton Accies at Easter Road to get their season under way again, and will hope they can keep their momentum going as they chase a record points haul and European football.

A statement from the Dingwall club read: “Tomorrow's home match v Hibernian has been postponed due to a frozen pitch following inspection.

“The fixture will now be re-scheduled and information will be communicated when available.”
