Ross County v Hibs team news and probable line-ups: Same XI? | 9-game unbeaten run | Defender continues recovery
A look ahead to Hibs’ trip north to face Ross County on Wednesday
Hibs go in search of ten league games unbeaten on Wednesday evening as they make the 170-mile trip north to face Ross County.
Despite the late concession to Kilmarnock which saw two points dropped at Easter Road on Saturday, the Hibees are on the up under new boss Jack Ross.
With their upturn in form, turning draws largely into wins, they have climbed the table and are sitting in the top six with a five-point lead over Livingston and Ross County below them.
Ross as admitted to a quandary with regards to his starting XI. So far he has named the same team each game, using the same three substitutes, but with this the second midweek fixture in a row there may be the case that some players need a rest.
However, as the Hibs boss as noted, it is hard to change a side who are playing well and getting results.
They face a Ross County side who are struggling.
The Staggies have not won in nine league games and are finding it difficult to keep clean sheets. They have conceded at least twice in their last eight fixtures.
Ross County team news: Ewan Henderson is available again after missing clash with his parent-club Celtic, while Ross Draper has missed the last three fixtures.
Probable Ross County team (4-4-2): Baxter; Fraser, Morris, Fontaine, Forster; Mullin, Chalmers, Henderson, Gardyne; Mckay, Stewart.
Hibs team news: Manager Jack Ross has spoken about changing up the team in due course but has few injury issues to contend with, David Gray having returned to full training. There was good news regarding Darren McGregor who is due to play for the Development Squad in their SPFL Reserve Cup fixture against St Mirren as he steps up his recovery from abdominal injury.
Probable Hibs team (4-4-2): Maxwell; Naismith, Porteous, Hanlon, Stevenson; Hallberg, Newell, Slivka, Allan; Kamberi, Doidge.
Key clash: Florian Kamberi and Christian Doidge have been in excellent form of late. In the last four meetings they have netted seven goals and made two assists between them. They face a Ross County defence who have conceded 34 goals – not team has let in more in the Premiership. The management duo of Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson haven’t struck on their best defensive unit.
Last meeting: It was an afternoon to forget for Hibs the previous time they met Ross County. In the October meeting at Easter Road, Scott Allan and Daryl Horgan gave the home side a two-goal lead but the Staggies were allowed back into it through Brian Graham before Joe Chalmers completed the comeback.
