Hibs look to have missed out on Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie after the player agreed to join Aberdeen at the eleventh hour.

The Dons have struck a loan-to-buy deal with the Ibrox side, and the Scotland Under-21 captain is expected to undergo coronavirus testing and a medical with the Pittodrie side this morning at the club's Cormack Park training complex before joining up with his new team-mates on Thursday.

The Easter Road side were hoping to make the versatile player, who can also operate in defence, their fourth signing of the summer and made two offers for him last week.

McCrorie was keen to make the move to Edinburgh and Hibs looked to be in pole position for his signature last week.

However, McCrorie met with Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes over the weekend and is now set to make the temporary switch to the northeast ahead of a permanent move next summer.

Swiss side St Gallen, who signed Florian Kamberi from Hibs earlier this month, had also made enquiries about a loan deal for McCrorie.

Hibs are now expected to turn their attention to other options as they look to beef up their squad before the transfer window closes.
