Hibs defender Ryan Porteous has been named in Scot Gemmill’s Scotland Under-21 squad for next month's fixture against Lithuania.

The 21-year-old has impressed for Jack Ross’ side in the first four games of the season and has been part of a backline that has kept two clean sheets and is yet to concede a goal from open play.

The young Scots are due to take on Donatas Vencevičius’ side in Vilnius on September 8 in a UEFA Under-21 qualifier.

Porteous has been capped ten times already at Under-21 level, making his debut at the 2018 Toulon Tournament. He was called up to Steve Clarke’s senior squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Cyprus and Kazakhstan in November 2019 but did not feature in either fixture.

Glenn Middleton, who spent the first half of last season on loan at Easter Road, is also named in the squad.

Porteous could line up alongside former Hibs target Ross McCrorie, who has also been named in the squad alongside Aberdeen team-mates Dean Campbell, Lewis Ferguson, and Connor McLennan, while Motherwell pair Allan Campbell and David Turnbull have also been included.
