The Capital club's Sporting Director Graeme Mathie expressed his delight at tying Shanley down on a new deal, adding: "Ryan has developed well since coming into a full-time environment, helped immensely by his loan spell at Civil Service Strollers in the Lowland League.

“His next challenge is to impact the first team squad, which we hope he can do in the not too distant future.”

Shanley has been part of Hibs' development side this term and has impressed during his appearances on the park, while he has also trained with the first team on occasion.

Hibs' Head of Player Development Eddie May, said: “We’re pleased with the progress Ryan’s making but he knows as well as anyone that this is just the start.

“He has a lot going for him and he’s lucky to be in an environment where he has everything he’ll need around him to push on. It’s up to Ryan to take advantage of that.”

Shanley added: “I’m really pleased to have signed a new contract with Hibernian and I’m grateful they’ve shown so much faith in me.

“I want to repay that and work as hard as I can to make a good impression on the coaching staff and see how far that takes me.”
