Health concerns have limited the 29-year-old’s involvement this term, with the last of his five appearances coming against Aberdeen at the end of August.

Since then he has been dealing with a private health issue and has been forced to watch from the sidelines. However, he is now back training with the rest of the squad and looking to push his way back into contention.

Speaking to Hibs TV, Allan said: "I'm delighted to be back training, and looking to get a good couple of weeks training with the boys and see what happens from there.

"It's all the little things, even the warm up in the changing room, that I'd missed over the last few months. Getting to kick a ball about again, especially with people you've become really close to the last couple of years, and a lot of the new signings as well.

"I'm delighted. I've missed it so much. It's been hard but I just can't wait to get going again."

Due to the extended spell on the sidelines, Allan was put through an individual fitness programme before being given the green light to returning to training.

“I had two weeks reconditioning because I had such a substantial time out,” he added. “It was basically a mini pre-season and all the stuff you don't like so much. But I've been back on the pitch doing the things that I love and I just can't wait to get going."
