The member of parliament for Ross, Skye and Lochaber was challenging UK Government on “why they are still refusing the repeated calls to introduce a guaranteed minimum income for everyone”.

Some viewers were distracted by not only two signed Hibs-branded footballs but a Scottish Cup print which proudly displayed the scoreline from the 2016 final as the Easter Road side defeated Rangers 3-2.

It was memorabilia which went down well with Hibs fans with them being showcased on such a stage.

Blackford, born and bred in Edinburgh and a former Royal High pupil, has been vocal about his love for the Leith side.

He has previously mentioned John McGinn in the House of Commons, while back in 2016, during a debate about the Financial Conduct Authority, he praised the club for getting to the semi finals of the League Cup, following the use of a football analogy by an MP.

"I am glad to say that the mighty Hibernian football club - the team that the term ‘sexy football’ was meant for - managed to get through to the final in Glasgow on 13 March,” he said.

Blackford has previously tweeted his admiration for club legend Pat Stanton.

“What a pleasure it was to see Pat playing for Hibs in the late 60s and into the 70s,” he posted. “He was majestic, a skilled artisan who was a joy to watch.”
