St Mirren v Hibs game in doubt as player from Paisley club tests positive for coronavirus

The Simple Digital Arena is due to host St Mirren v Hibs on Saturday.

A St Mirren first-team player is self-isolating after testing positive for coronavirus on Monday, it is being reported by BBC Scotland.

It has prompted concerns over Saturday’s game against Hibs taking place in Paisley.

Players are tested twice weekly, with another round of testing due to take place today.

Seven St Mirren employees tested positive for Covid-19 in July, but six were later found to be false-positives.

Paisley is one of the areas which is currently subject to the Scottish government's local rules restricting visitors to homes.

Hibs are due to face St Mirren on Saturday at 3pm at the Simple Digital Arena.

St Mirren had hoped to use the Hibs game as a pilot event for supporters to return to football but the plan fell through due to new lockdown restrictions in Renfrewshire.
