Stevie Mallan: Hibs midfielder 'wanted by Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor'
Hibs midfielder Stevie Mallan is a target for Yeni Malatyaspor, according to reports.
The Turkish outfit are said to be weighing up a loan deal for the remainder of the season with a permanent switch to Turkey mooted for the summer.
Reports suggest the Super Lig side has been given permission to hold talks with the 25-year-old, who has fallen down the pecking order at Easter Road following the January arrivals of Chris Cadden and Jackson Irvine.
Mallan wasn't named in the matchday squad for Saturday's Betfred Cup semi-final defeat by St Johnstone and has been in and out of the starting XI since returning from a knee injury in the summer.
The former St Mirren man has four goals and two assists from 20 appearances so far this term but has started just four Scottish Premiership fixtures and has mostly been used as a substitute, although he featured in every Betfred Cup match until the semi-final.
His last 90 minutes came in the 3-0 home loss to Livingston on January 2, with a 22-minute cameo in the 1-1 draw at Celtic and a fleeting appearance from the bench in the 2-0 victory over Kilmarnock last weekend.
Mallan had been loosely linked with a return to Paisley but the Buddies played down talk of bringing the midfielder back to his formative club.
The former Scotland Under-21 internationalist joined Hibs from Barnsley in 2018 on a contract to the summer of 2022 and to date has played 95 times in green and white, scoring 20 and laying on 17 for his team-mates.
