Shaun Maloney’s stint as Hibernian manager was short and not particularly sweet. The former Celtic winger lasted just four months at Easter Road, winning just six of his 19 games in charge as the Hibees missed out on a top-six spot, while Scottish Cup semi-final defeat against Hearts proved the final straw.
Maloney’s brief stint meant he only had one transfer window to make his mark this time four years ago, but a look back at Hibs’ January 2022 transfer window would go some way to explaining his struggles. Nine players came through the door at Easter Road but few could be considered a success.
There are some rather forgettable names in that cohort and some who will be remembered for the wrong reasons. Take a look below to see what all of Maloney’s signings are up to now.

5. Emmanuel Johnson (free)
Signed a three-and-a-half-year deal as a free agent in early February and was immediately loaned back out to second-tier US outfit Charleston Battery. Spells at FC Edinburgh and Austin FC reserves followed as the defender failed to make a single Hibs appearance. Secured a permanent move to Pittsburgh Riverhounds last year but is now a free agent. | SNS Group

6. Ewan Henderson (loan)
Scotland youth international joined Hibs on loan in January 2022 and impressed enough for a permanent transfer the following summer. Racked up 35 games during the 2022/23 campaign before a loan spell at Belgian outfit Oostende. Left for Beerschot last summer, where he remains. | SNS Group

7. Harry Clarke (loan)
Only managed to play a handful of games under Maloney, with injury keeping the former Arsenal prospect from a debut until April 2. Spent six months at Stoke City before a January 2023 move to Ipswich Town where he remains, having helped the Tractor Boys win consecutive promotions from League One to the English Premier League. 8. Rocky Bushiri (loan)
The only Maloney signing to still be at Easter Road currently, having initially signed on loan from Norwich City before a permanent deal was agreed the following summer. Centre-back has 69 games under his belt for Hibs. | SNS Group
