The Swiss-born striker was one of three forwards the Pittodrie side signed on deadline day, with Fraser Hornby and Callum Hendry arriving on loan from Reims and St Johnstone respectively.

Both players featured in Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat by Livingston but McInnes will have to wait a little longer before pitching Kamberi into action.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Edinburgh McInnes said: “He can’t travel until he has his actual work permit, so he can’t leave the country.

“The process is well on its way, but unfortunately for us it won’t be in time for tomorrow.”

The former Hibs forward is expected in Scotland by February 10, and could make his Dons debut against St Mirren on February 13.

Meanwhile, McInnes has revealed winger Ryan Hedges will miss the rest of the season while Ash Taylor will sit out the match against Hibs.
